  • Changes in the social value system, the penetration of the commercial private sector into areas that have been covered by non-profit organizations for a long time, and the financial crisis of public budgets are considered to be major causes for the diverse and controversial discussion of the Social Impact Orientation in the German-speaking world. This thesis focuses on the question of how social impact orientation affects instruments of corporate management. For this purpose, a theoretical overview of social impact analysis is developed, and selected instruments of corporate management are presented. Afterwards, five hypotheses are formed, which are tested in a single case study based on a young social enterprise in Austria. In this practical part of the research, a comparison regarding the impact orientation in the social enterprise under study with what is presented in the literature is pivotal. Furthermore, the question of how the management instruments for impact orientation given in the literature are applied in this company and to which results they lead is examined. Finally, it is investigated whether impact objectives and appropriate management instruments can contribute to solving the assumed conflict of objectives between social and economic objectives. The results and findings of the individual case study are then subjected to an initial verification in discussions with a superordinate institution. This work concludes that impact orientation requires a very long-term approach to corporate management. The impact targets and indicators must be reflected in the chosen tools. This is the only way to ensure that corporate management and impact orientation work together stringently. Despite all the uncertainty about HOW it is implemented, the impact orientation has central effects on corporate management.
