  • Music students, especially those between the ages of 9 and 15, do not often find the time in their everyday lives to engage with their musical instrument. As a result, their level of playing remains the same and they do not perceive any learning progress, which in the long term also leads to a loss of enjoyment in making music. Due to the lack of learning progress, the weekly music lessons have to be repeated and in the long run they seem monotonous and boring. Statistically speaking, the most common time when children drop out of music school due to a lack of time and interest is either at the age of 11 or 14. In order to give the children back the joy of making music, an approach was developed in which the children define their own goal and divide it into smaller tasks with the help of a coaching interview. An auditory notification system helps them to find the right time for these musical tasks in their everyday life, so that they feel a learning success and have fun with their musical instrument. In this thesis the requirements for an auditory notification system are analyzed and the differing influence of time- and context-based notifications is determined by user tests.
