Wir untersuchen Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede partizipativer Projekte auf Gemeindeebene in der Bodenseeregion. Ziel dabei ist es, einerseits Chancen und Stolpersteine von partizipativen Projekten für Gemeinden zu identifizieren. Andererseits entwickeln wir den Resilienzbegriff aus Psychologie und BWL weiter für Gemeinden und fragen uns, wie Partizipation die Resilienz einer Gemeinde beeinflusst.
Die vorliegende Masterarbeit untersucht die Rolle des Controllings für innovative Startups in Österreich, insbesondere in der Anfangsphase. Experteninterviews wurden durchgeführt, um Einsichten in die Herausforderungen, Chancen und Best Practices des Startup-Controllings zu gewinnen. Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse wurden analysiert und in Kategorien zusammengefasst, um einen umfassenden Überblick über die wichtigsten Ergebnisse zu liefern. Die Arbeit betont die Bedeutung einer effektiven Controlling-Funktion für Startups, um fundierte Entscheidungen zu treffen, die finanzielle Leistungsfähigkeit zu verbessern und das langfristige Wachstum zu unterstützen.
Integration of an industrial robot manipulator in ROS to enhance its spatial perception capabilities

Robots without any external sensors are not capable of sensing their environment, often leading to damaging collisions. These collisions could potentially be avoided if the robot had a way to sense its environment in the first place. This thesis attempts to tackle this problem by equipping such a robot with extra sensor hardware for perceiving environmental objects. The robot used within this thesis is a KUKA LBR iiwa 7 R800. The goal is a robot capable of moving in an unseen environment without colliding with obstacles nearby.
The research covers different sensor options, robots in cramped areas as well as algorithms and simulation topics. Software platforms and libraries used for the implementation are briefly introduced.
Multiple infrared sensors are directly installed onto the robot manipulator. The extra sensors and the robot are integrated into the ROS middleware to create an application capable of sensing the robots’ environment and plan collision-free paths accordingly.
The experiments show, that the low amount of available sensor data can not map the robots’ environment with enough detail. Additional problems, such as sensor noise corrupting parts of the generated map or the robot recognizing itself as an obstacle, lead to a negative result in total. In future work, the choice of sensors shall be reconsidered and tested upfront via simulation software.
This paper gives an insight into how cybersecurity is built inside and outside banks in Austria. The research was conducted based on information received from bank representatives in Austria as well as on literature, participation in various kinds of online conferences, and so on. The main objective of this paper was to investigate the cybersecurity execution scheme and to consider the possible impact of the cultural factor on cybersecurity execution. Due to a force majeure situation like coronavirus, the author was able to obtain little information from participants, but even this helped to draw satisfactory conclusions and make recommendations to banks. Thanks to the vast amount of literature and research, confirmation of the factor under study was found, confirming the relevance of the work and the potential for further research.
Einkauf 4.0

Traditionelle Einkaufsprozesse haben viele Fehlerquellen und ungenütztes Potential. Viele Konzepte, die meist im Zusammenhang mit Digitalisierung und Industrie 4.0 stehen, versprechen Optimierungen. Diese Vielfalt führt jedoch in der Praxis zu Unklarheiten, da fraglich ist, was tatsächlich hinter den Konzepten steckt. Insbesondere der sogenannte „Einkauf 4.0“, der mehr als eine Digitalisierung der Beschaffungsprozesse verspricht, wirft viele Fragen auf.
Das Ziel der vorliegenden Forschungsarbeit ist es festzulegen, welche Merkmale dem „Einkauf 4.0“ zugeschrieben werden können und ob sich diese in Praxis wiederfinden. Dazu werden folgende Forschungsfragen gestellt:
1. Welche Merkmale können eindeutig dem Begriff „Einkauf 4.0“ zugeordnet werden, um eine aktuell gültige Umfangsdefinition zu erstellen?
2. Werden die gefundenen Merkmale des Einkauf 4.0 in der Praxis als relevant erachtet und umgesetzt? Falls ja, welche?
Um die erste Forschungsfrage zu beantworten wurden eine qualitative und eine quantitative Inhaltsanalyse durchgeführt. Die Merkmale des Begriff Einkauf 4.0 konnten dadurch eindeutig festlegt und abgrenzt werden. Die zweite Forschungsfrage wurde beantwortet in dem ein Vergleich der gefundenen Merkmale mit der Studie „BME-Barometer Elektronische Beschaffung 2020“ des BME e. V. erfolgte.
Die Auswertung der Inhaltsanalysen zeigt, dass sich Merkmale für den Einkauf 4.0 finden lassen, diese jedoch kritisch zu hinterfragen sind. Der Vergleich der Merkmale mit der Studie des BME e.V., ergibt, dass einige Merkmale in der Praxis wiederzufinden sind; Sie sind jedoch von unterschiedlicher Relevanz. Weiterführende Forschung ausgehend von der hier formulierten Definition würden tiefere Einblicke in das Konzept des Einkauf 4.0 ermöglichen.
Scrum has been a prominent project management framework for managing software development projects. The scrum team embodies values such as commitment, focus, respect, courage, and openness to develop trust, which serves as the foundation of the scrum framework. However, in recent years, scrum teams are shifting towards a work-from-home environment which is relatively new to most of them and known to present various challenges. Looking at the benefits of adhering to scrum values, this study aims to investigate the challenges scrum teams experience in adhering to scrum values while operating virtually, as well as to explore practical strategies to overcome the identified challenges, particularly during the storming stage of team development. This research employed a qualitative methodology using semi-structured interviews with scrum team members who have experience working in a virtual environment. Through qualitative content analysis of semi-structured interviews, this research identifies significant challenges within five main categories: communication, collaboration, interpersonal dynamics, the virtual work environment, and personal workspace issues. However, beyond the challenges, the study reveals practical strategies as well for successful team dynamics and higher efficiency. The strategies derived from team members' experiences are categorized into six categories: enhanced meeting management, leveraging in-person engagements, optimizing tools & technology, effective communication strategies, team-building, and nurturing a positive work culture.
Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study is to explore the of self-initiated expatriates prior to and during acculturation to life in a smaller periphery region such as Vorarlberg, Austria. By providing insights into their lived experience this research aims to fill in the gaps of missing information on motivators, success factors to adjustment, issues, and stressors, and more that SIEs experience when adjusting. Specifically, what items promote adjustment and what items hinder adjustment.
Findings: Developed a better understanding of how and what motivational factors lead to expatriation. Furthermore, that opportunities arise by chance. During acculturation, language factors (dialect), cultural differences act as stressors. While social support, and organizational support, learning of the language act as promoters of acculturation.
Further Research could be done including ethnicities, SIEs moving from developed to developing countries, adjustment in regions with dialect vs no dialect.

Compression of ultrashort laser pulses via gated multiphoton intrapulse interference phase scans

The paper deals with the optimization of 2x2 optical switch for photonic integrated circuits based on two 2x2 MMI splitters and two phase-modulators. The optical switch was modelled in the RSoftCAD with the simulation tool BeamPROP. The optimization was done to minimise the insertion losses and broaden the spectral band at 1550 nm by using linear tapers in a 2x2 MMI splitter topology. The 2x2 optical switch is a common element for creating more complex 1xN or NxN optical switches in all-optical signal processing.
The paper deals with designing and numerical modelling a 2 x 2 optical switch for photonic integrated circuits based on 2 x 2 MMI elements and phase modulators. The 2 x 2 optical switch was modelled in the RsoftCAD with the simulation tool BeamPROP. The 2 x 2 optical switch is a common element for creating more complex 1 x N or N x N optical switches in all-optical signal processing.
In this paper we report on the experimental test set-up for the temperature characterization of fiber array to photonics chip butt coupling at 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths. The alignment and gluing of fiber arrays to photonics chip were done by automated active alignments system and they were fixed themselves by UV curable epoxy adhesive. Temperature changes of coupling insertion losses are measured and investigated for two different UV adhesives during three temperature cycles from -40 °C to 80 °C in climatic chamber. Spectral dependence of insertion losses was measured and compared before and after three temperature cycles for 1530 nm to 1570 nm spectral range at room temperature.
A Telecom optical fibers are still being the best transmission medium of digital data and analogue signals for long distance applications. Progress in integrated photonics enables development of photonic chips with new unique properties, circuits of the future, and overcomes current limits in information and communication technologies. The packaging of photonic chips is necessary for taking them out of research laboratories into real implementation in the information and communication technology applications. One important step of packaging is effective coupling of optical radiation between telecom optical fiber with ten microns core dimension and photonic chip optical waveguide with submicron dimensions. For complex photonic chips, it is necessary to couple not one optical fiber but several optical fibers, which are arranged in fiber arrays. In this case, it is necessary to use a 6D positioning system, which allows to optimally adjust the relative position of the photonic chip and the fiber arrays. After setting the optimal relative position of the photonic chip and the fiber array, the process of their fixation follows. One possibility of fixation is gluing with an adhesive in the optical path between the photonic chip and an array of optical fibers with a refractive index close to the refractive index of the optical fiber core. This paper is focused on the experimental test set-up for the temperature characterization of fiber array to photonics chip butt coupling at 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths fixed themselves by UV adhesive in the optical path. The main aims of this work are the validation of the developed process of gluing a single-mode optical fiber array with a photonic chip and the selection of a more suitable adhesive from the two adhesives being compared. An active alignment system was used for adjusting the two optical fiber arrays to a photonics chip. The gluing was done by two compared UV curable adhesives applied in the optical path. The insertion losses of glued coupling were measured and investigated at two discrete wavelengths 1310 nm and 1550 nm during temperature testing in the climatic chamber according to Telcordia GR_1209_Corei04 [3]. The measurement, investigation, and comparison of insertion losses of the glued coupling at the spectral band from 1530 nm to 1570 nm were done immediately after gluing process and after three temperature cycles in the climatic chamber with one month delay.
SiN is a suitable material for fabricating of photonic integrated circuits with middle refractive index contrast for the visible and near infrared spectral region with ultra-low propagation losses. The paper deals with the design and simulation of fiber to SiN chip butt coupler with single step fabrication process without thickness tapering. Coupler is designed for 850 nm band for coupling between strip 0.25 μm × 1.00 μm waveguide and Nufern's 780-OCT single mode optical fiber with core diameter 4.4 μm. The coupling losses simulation results of the two simulation methods finite-difference beam propagation techniques and eigenmode expansion method are compared.

The packaging of photonic integrated circuits is necessary for taking them out of research laboratories into real implementation in the information and communication technology applications.

Effects of hole-transport layer homogeneity in organic solar cells – A multi-length scale study

For centuries, companies and institutions are working on the development of organisational project maturity models. The purpose of these models is to develop a path for improving an organisation’s capability of managing projects. Projects are the means by which companies implement their strategic objectives. Trends like globalisation and advances in IT lead to more geographically distributed teamwork. Therefore, this thesis gives a comprehensive answer to how project management maturity models address transnational project management.
For accomplishing the research objective, this thesis follows an integrated, qualitative literature review approach. Theoretical frameworks and applied research on project management maturity assessments were systematically collected and analysed. The results extracted from these two sources were synthesised to extract findings.
The main research result shows that models continuously adapt to transnational project management. They are doing this by aligning the organisational culture and values, focusing on organisational wide learning and gradually embedding behavioural and intercultural competencies. Maturity assessments need to follow this trend.
Furthermore, transnational convergence of the models’ dimensions was observed. This development leads to growth in size and complexity. To apply them internationally, the models should be simplified or easily adapted to specific countries and cultures.
Startups usually have high growth ambitions but only limited resources. Therefore, they are looking for efficient and effective methods to grow their business. However, if they go interna-tional, challenging changes will likely be made if the company is not focused on the global market. The aim of this work is therefore to support startups in the internationalization of their business and to provide guidance from the beginning by using strategic marketing elements to facilitate this process. To achieve this, a qualitative method of analysis was chosen. First, a literature review was conducted on the relevant topics of a startup, strategic marketing, and internationalization. Five success factors emerged from the literature: commitment, strategy, research, marketing mix adaptation, and organization and network. These were then ana-lyzed in more detail in expert interviews. The analysis of the interview results shows that for the internationalization of startups, the commitment to internationalization and a global mindset is of great importance from the very beginning. This is because they influence all supporting and strategic marketing elements.
